E&I Research at the 2025 GEM GLOBAL CONFERENCE in Bilbao

26/02/2025

Last week, E&I faculty member Dr. Dorothee Horvath presented her research project with Benjamin Monsorno at the 2025 GEM GLOBAL CONFERENCE in Bilbao, Spain. Conducted within the eXplore! project, this study merges the academic expertise of the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation with the long-standing experience of the GEM Austria Team and the insights of a key stakeholder in Austria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, EY.

Dorothee & Ben’s research leverages machine learning to analyze the GEM dataset, uncovering key determinants and outcomes of entrepreneurial ecosystems—with a particular focus on Austria. By identifying the forces shaping these ecosystems, their work aims to provide data-driven insights for policymakers, helping to pinpoint areas for improvement and guide future policies to strengthen Austria’s entrepreneurial landscape.

The GEM GLOBAL CONFERENCE provided an excellent platform for engaging discussions on entrepreneurship, bringing together researchers, policymakers, and industry experts from around the world. A key highlight of the event was the launch of the GEM Global Annual Report, offering the latest insights into global entrepreneurial trends.

We are grateful to eXplore! for the opportunity to showcase this important work and look forward to continued collaboration with our global research community and industry partners.

Stay tuned for more updates on E&I projects!
