Fajar J. Ekaputra is an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Data, Process, and Knowledge Management at Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien), Austria. He received his bachelor's and master's degree from the Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia, and a doctoral's degree in Informatics from TU Wien, Austria, in 2018. Fajar sees himself as a Knowledge Scientist and Semantic Web enthusiast who aims to make reliable data that can effectively address requirements, questions, and needs, using Semantic Web technologies. This aim is reflected in his research, which is consistently situated on both the foundational aspects and novel adaptations of Semantic Web technologies to provide reliable data for various purposes. Examples of such purposes are to detect inconsistencies in Cyber-Physical System data and to enable the auditability of Hybrid AI (Neuro-symbolic) systems, among others.

During his time in academia, he has implemented practical and research use cases for industry partners in several domains. One example of his prior work was the development of analytic and management tools for AutomationML models and modelling a common concept ontology for Hydro Power Plant production systems as part of the CDL-Flex project in the CPS domain. Recently, he was leading the design and development of several research prototypes, such as SLOGERT, an automatic log Knowledge Graph construction, and AuditBox, a tool for capturing and managing audit traces from AI systems. He has co-authored more than 55 peer-reviewed papers in various venues in the last ten years, including top-tiered conferences (e.g., ISWC, ESWC, EKAW, SEMANTiCS) and Journals (SWJ, IJSEKE), out of which 2 won best paper awards. He is actively involved in research communities as scientific and organizing committees for several international conferences and workshops, e.g., ISWC, ESWC, SEMANTiCS, IFAC, and ICoDSE.
