In our discussion on "AI and Strategic Crisis Communication," we will explore the intersection of AI with contingent organization-public relationships (COPR), a concept introduced by Dr. Cheng. We’ll delve into her latest research on AI modeling and its impact on relationship management during crises. Additionally, we’ll examine AI's applications in crisis communication, highlighting both the innovative ways it can be employed and the challenges organizations face in its implementation. Join us to gain insights into how AI can enhance crisis communication strategies while navigating the complexities it presents.

Bio

Dr. Cheng is an associate professor in the Department of Communication and an adjunct professor at the Poole College of Management, NCSU. She is also the Co-Director of Center for AI in Society and Ethics and one of Stanford University’s top 2% most-cited scholars. Specializing in AI, crisis communication, and relationship management, she has authored more than 75 journal articles and 25 book chapters and has received over $2 million in research funding. Her work has earned numerous

awards, and she has lectured at top institutions worldwide. She has taught many courses such as strategic management, research methods, the introduction of public relations, and crisis communication. Dr. Cheng was co-editing a book about AI and strategic communication and she has extensively served as a guest speaker or keynote speaker for international institutions such as MIT, Peking University, Fudan U, Zhejiang U, Xiamen U, and U of Technology Sydney.
