We are plea­sed to wel­co­me David Prei­ner­stor­fer as our new Pro­fes­sor of “Sta­tis­tics and Eco­no­me­tics”.

Be­fo­re joi­ning WU, David Prei­ner­stor­fer was As­so­cia­te Pro­fes­sor of Eco­no­metrics at the Fa­cul­ty of Eco­no­mics and Po­li­ti­cal Sci­ence at the Uni­ver­si­ty of St.Gal­len and Di­rec­tor at the Swiss In­sti­tu­te for Em­pi­ri­cal Re­se­arch in Eco­no­mics. He taught eco­no­metrics and sta­tis­tics in the Ba­che­lor, Mas­ter and PhD pro­grams in eco­no­mics, eco­no­metrics and po­li­ti­cal sci­ence and con­duc­ted re­se­arch in eco­no­metrics and sta­tis­tics. Prior to that, he held an as­si­stant pro­fes­sor­ship at the Uni­ver­sit'e libre de Bru­xel­les in Bel­gi­um, was a post-​doctoral fel­low at the Fa­cul­ty of Eco­no­mics at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Aar­hus in Den­mark. David re­cei­ved his doc­to­ra­te in sta­tis­tics and ope­ra­ti­ons re­se­arch at the De­part­ment of Sta­tis­tics at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Vi­en­na.

He will start tea­ching the cour­se Eco­no­metrics I in the Ba­che­lor and the cour­se Fi­nan­cial Time Se­ries Ana­ly­sis (QFin)  in the win­ter se­mes­ter 2024/25.
