Xenia MIKLIN

Research and Teaching Assistant, PhD Candidate

Xenia Miklin is a research and teaching assistant and PhD candidate at the Institute for Political Economy of Public Policy. Xenia holds a Master’s degree in Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy from the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Vienna. Xenia’s PhD research focuses on understanding the role of socioeconomic inequalities for and within ecological crises. More specifically, she is conducting (1) an empirical analysis of socioeconomic disparities in ambient air pollution exposure in Austria and Europe, (2) a descriptive study assessing environmental, economic and social impacts of the Top 100 polluting industrial facilities in Europe and (3) an investigation of policies reducing inequalities while protecting the environment. Xenia has been working on an FWF-Project on environmental inequalities in the EU, a WU-Project about air pollution and COVID-19 incidence levels and outcomes, as well as on the APCC Special Report 22. Furthermore, she is teaching undergraduate courses such as Environmental and Ecological Economics and Sustainable Economics and Business at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU).
