Tracing Citation Success

02/10/2017

A large proportion of academic papers are never read and never cited. In social sciences, estimates put the number of papers not cited as high as one-third. In fact, even in top marketing and management journals, the average number of cites a paper receives annually over its first two years, the so called journal impact factor, is usually lower than 6 (e.g. JAMS 5.9; JIBS 5.9; JM 5.3; JCR 3.8). In this context, we are rather pleased that a paper titled “Can Socio-Demographics Still Play a Role in Profiling Green Consumers.” coauthored by Prof. Bodo Schlegelmilch and published in the Journal of Business Research, has now received more than 1000 citations.
