Research Interests

My research is broadly concerned with the question of how to address digital transformation challenges. Within that broad scope, I am particularly interested in the following areas:

  • Business and societal impact of emerging technologies

  • Recent forms of management including agility at scale or resilience during rare events (e.g. Covid-19 crises)

  • Digital governance, innovation strategies and competitiveness

  • Organizational behavior (among others, the role of culture and leadership) and performance optimization

  • Social technologies (e.g. Web 2.0/ Social Media) for knowledge creation and sharing

  • Models of absorptive capacity and IT-enabled capabilities

  • Dynamic capability theory and its application in IS

Research Methodologies

My research methods contain elements of both qualitative and quantitative approaches, including:

  • Mixed method research

  • Positivist and interpretive case studies including grounded theory

  • Quantitative methods and analysis (field surveys)

  • Structural equation modeling

  • Analytic hierarchy process

I particularly welcome research that spans disciplinary boundaries, particularly those bridging information systems and organizational theory.
