Durch die Inhalte der Vorlesung „IT-Controlling“ und der Diplomarbeitsbetreuung im Bereich IT Governance mit Fokus auf Risikomanagement konnte ich eine sehr gute Grundlage für meine aktuelle Tätigkeit schaffen.

The IT Controlling course held by Prof. Bernroider was thoughtful and inspiring, and provided me with deeper understanding of  IT governance processes and IT value contribution in organizations. I also had the opportunity to conduct my master thesis under the leadership of Prof Bernroider. It was a challenging empirical exploration of the contribution of CobiT to IT project management success.

Looking back, I can definitely state that the education offered at the Institute for Information Management and Control was a very good preparation for my current assignment as a Global IT Release Manager in a multinational company. In my opinion the importance of IT governance will grow more and more for all enterprises, which aim for efficiency and productivity of their IT processes, and face a demanding business environment.

Damals in der Vorlesung IT-Controlling waren mir Begriffe wie Cobit, ITIL und COSO noch ein Fremdwort und nun bin ich fast täglich mit diesen Frameworks konfrontiert.

Gerade beim Berufsstart waren die Erkenntnisse der Vorlesung optimal, da ich dadurch bereits das Big Picture vor Augen hatte.

Ich denke, dass das Themengebiet IT Controlling in Zukunft einen noch höheren Stellenwert bekommen wird, da neue Technologien und die immer steigenden Anforderungen des Business die Komplexität der IT Systeme noch weiter steigern werden.

Bei meiner Arbeit kann ich die Lehrinhalte des Instituts, insbesondere die Schwerpunkte der Vorlesung „IT-Controlling“, ideal in die Praxis umsetzen.

Themen wie COBIT und ITIL sind für mich essentiell bei der Prüfung von IT-Kontrollen und Prozessen in Unternehmen. Ich bin davon überzeugt, dass die Erfahrungen dieses Kurses mir einen Vorteil beim Berufseinstieg verschafft haben.

I wrote my thesis at the Institute for Information Management and Control with Prof. Bernroider as diploma thesis supervisor. The conducted research was relevant for the online payment company payolution as part of an experimental innovations project, which was related to data mining. Besides the valuable support and academic guidance given by Prof. Bernroider himself, I was extremely satisfied with the short feedback cycles, the clear communication, and the "getting things done" mentality I experienced while writing my thesis at the institute.

Even though, as a Business Administration student I had no IT specialization before, I was in very good hands at the institute and can highly recommend the institute for anyone who wants to pursue an academically challenging master's thesis in the institute’s fields of specialization.

My experience with the Institute for Information Management and Control is that of a highly supportive and collaborative environment. Several group projects with students and the inherent discussions of relevant literature not only deepen one’s theoretical knowledge but also train invaluable soft skills. Having gained a more profound understanding of innovation management of information systems development has already helped me at my current work experience at the Deutsche Bank’s Digital Factory.

Overall, the institute’s instructors provided fast and high quality support throughout the whole specialisation (e.g. single queries, group projects, seminar papers and bachelor thesis). Above all, Prof. Bernroider’s supervision of my seminar and bachelor theses, and tremendous support during my Master applications enabled me to secure MSc offers for the London School of Economics (LSE), Imperial College London and an interview with University College London (UCL).
