Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB): Research Economist

Thanks to the broad range of topics covered in the WU Bachelor's program (majoring in economics), I had the opportunity to gain an initial insight into a wide variety of economic areas. As I was particularly interested in macroeconomic issues, I was also able to find the right specializations here. In the following WU Economics Master's program and the subsequent doctoral program, I deepened my knowledge of the basics and specialized further in macroeconomic modeling and monetary policy. The concepts and theoretical and empirical methods taught during my studies form the basis for my daily tasks and enable me to independently analyze a wide range of research questions relevant to monetary policy.

VBV Pensionskasse AG: Investment Manager | Private Markets

After completing my bachelor's degree in economics, I chose a more quantitative path and decided to do a master's degree in quantitative finance at WU. Following a first professional station at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, I was then able to gain 4 years of experience in the investment fund industry for alternative investments in Luxembourg, following my strong interest in investment activities.

In fall 2020, I moved back to Vienna and since then I have been responsible for the investment management of private markets and in particular for the infrastructure area at VBV Pensionskasse.

Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University: Assistant Professor of Strategy & Business Economics

My bachelor's degree at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) was the ideal basis for a career in economics, which led me via the Institute for Advanced Studies (Master in Economics) and Northwestern University (PhD in Managerial Economics & Strategy) to Cornell University in upstate New York, where I was fortunate to be able to conduct research with fantastic colleagues under excellent conditions. In addition, I made personal and professional connections at WU that continue to this day.

Georgetown University, Department of Economics: Assistant Professor

The bachelor's and master's (Science Track) program in economics at WU Vienna had a significant impact on my academic career and research interests and prepared me very well for my doctoral studies at the University of Cambridge. The courses provided a solid and state-of-the-art training in the core competencies of economics. Furthermore, the wide range of specializations allowed me to deepen my knowledge in my area of interest, macroeconomics, and to learn more about different research topics. During my time at WU, I was also able to gain valuable teaching experience as an e-learning assistant at the Department of Economics. After graduating in Vienna, I completed my PhD in Economics at the University of Cambridge and have since been working as an assistant professor at Georgetown University.

Federal Competition Authority: Deputy Head of Staff Unit

My studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business successfully prepared me for the future on several levels. I am now passionate about using the skills I have learned in the public sector. The Federal Civil Service offers a wide range of opportunities for economically oriented students like me who are interested in working closely with business and society. My path led me to the Federal Competition Authority. After starting out as a case handler, I am now also taking on responsibility as deputy head of the staff unit, where I am committed to ensuring a fair and well-functioning competition.
