To mark the "Orange the World" campaign, the institute hosted a compelling panel discussion addressing violence against women in Austria. Esteemed panelists from diverse fields shared their expertise, shedding light on this pressing issue from legal, academic, and advocacy perspectives.

  • Jutta Pirker-Kerschbaumer: Head of the Legal Department at Universität für Weiterbildung Krems, with extensive experience in promoting gender equality and combating workplace discrimination.

  • Carmen Thornton: Partner at Thornton & Kautz Rechtsanwälte and recognized family law expert, regularly featured in national media.

  • Alicja Świtoń: Director of the Association of Austrian Autonomous Women’s Shelters, leading efforts to support survivors of gender-based violence.

  • Katharina Beclin: Assistant Professor of Criminology at the University of Vienna, specializing in research on violence, sexual offenses, and victim support.

  • Theresa Weger: Associate at FSM Attorneys at Law, passionate about addressing femicides and empowering women in the legal profession.

The discussion was introduced Marie Therese Claes Eliette Thurn (Soroptimist International) and Jina Kim-Prunera (Sietar Austria), and was moderated by Marie Therese Claes and Andrea Romo Pérez who guided the conversation and ensured an engaging exchange of ideas among the panelists.
