Bachelor theses are assigned in a multi-stage process:

Registration

... via Learn@WU during the registration period

During the registration period, all students of the specialization Sustainbility Reporting and the SBWL International Accounting & Controlling have access to a registration link on Learn@WU (under "Topic assignment Bachelor theses of the specializations/SBWL International Accounting & Controlling and Sustainability Reporting").

Ranking

... of the students on the following basis:

  • Submitted preferences

  • Grades of courses I to III of the SBWL International Accounting & Controlling OR grades of courses I to III of the specialization Sustainability Reporting (from summer semester 2025 onwards)

  • Academic success (grade point average)

Assignment

... of the Bachelor thesis topics and mandatory kick-off meeting

After the end of the registration period, those students who are assigned a Bachelor thesis will be notified by email. All other students will be placed on a waiting list and, if a Bachelor thesis topic is not assigned, will move up. Students have six months from the date of assignment to work on and submit their Bachelor thesis. The thesis is submitted via Learn@WU.

Further information

  • Our department does not offer a specific course in Academic Writing (Grundlagen des wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens). It is sufficient to take one of the academic writing courses (GWA) in any department (WISO/WIRE), or to complete the Introduction to Academic Writing course (BBE).

  • Once the topics have been assigned, a kick-off meeting takes place in November or April to discuss the requirements for the Bachelor thesis.
