Daniel Spurk

Conference Chair, Program Chair

 

PD Dr. Daniel Spurk works at the Department of Work and Organizational Psychology at the Institute for Psychology at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He received his PhD from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg. He worked and researched at several Universities within Europe. Dr. Spurk’s research primarily concerns successful career development, risks and opportunities within career management, and competition and individual differences at work. In addressing these research interests, he focuses on promoting and supporting meaningful and successful career paths. His research has appeared in international peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Management, Journal of Vocational Behavior (JVB), Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Journal of Business and Psychology, The Leadership Quarterly. Dr. Spurk is currently Associate Editor of JVB and serves on the editorial boards of other journals (e.g., Journal of Career Development). He is guest editor of the 2019 Special Issue on Sustainable Careers in JVB. He is the member of Executive Board for the Careers Division at Academy of Management.

Evgenia Lysova

Dr. Evgenia Lysova is Assistant Professor of Careers and Organizational Behavior at the department of Management and Organisation at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She is director of the VU Center for Meaningful Work – an Amsterdam-based platform for a conversation about meaningful work between scholars and practitioners. Dr. Lysova’s research primarily concerns career calling, meaningful work and careers. In addressing these research interests, she focuses on understanding how to create conditions that enable individuals to thrive in their careers and organizations as well as to make meaningful contributions to their organizations and society as a whole. Her research has appeared in the international peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Vocational Behavior (JVB), Frontiers in Psychology, Journal of Business and Psychology, and Career Development International. Dr. Lysova serves on editorial boards of JVB and Journal of Career Assessment. She was the leading guest editor of the 2019 Special Issue on Calling and Careers in JVB. She is the member of Executive Board for the Careers Division at Academy of Management.

Stefanie Gustafsson

PDW Chair

 

Stefanie Gustafsson is an Assistant Professor at the University of Bath, School of Management. She also holds an Honorary Visiting Position at Cass Business School and has been a Visiting Researcher at the University of Queensland Business School, Lund University and WU Vienna. Her research investigates professionals’ work and career experiences in a changing world of work, trust in organizations and qualitative, multimodal methods.  Her work has been published in Organization Studies and is forthcoming in the Journal of Vocational Behavior. She has also co-authored a leading text book on Exploring Strategic Change. She was previously awarded the Academy of Management Careers Division Best Overall Paper Award and her work has been published repeatedly in the AOM proceedings.Stefanie has been an active member of the Careers Division since 2012, contributing as a presenter, chair, facilitator and reviewer. She has also acted as a volunteer for new members of the division. In 2017 she was awarded a ESRC Future Researcher Leaders grant to investigate the career experiences of paraprofessionals, specifically paralegals in law firms, during significant times of change in the professions. She is also active in teaching on careers and seeks to integrate innovative, arts-based methods in her teaching practice. 

Wolfgang Mayrhofer

Wolfgang Mayrhofer is Full Professor and head of the Interdisciplinary Institute of Management and Organisational Behaviour, Department of Management, WU Vienna (Vienna University of Economics and Business), Austria. He previously has held full-time research and teaching positions at the University of Paderborn, Germany, and at Dresden University of Technology, Germany, after receiving his diploma and doctoral degrees in Business Administration from WU.

He conducts research in comparative international human resource management, comparative careers, and systems theory and management and has received several national and international awards for outstanding research and service to the academic community. With his co-authors he published 31 books, most recently Brewster, C., Mayrhofer, W., & Farndale, E. (Eds.). 2018. Handbook Of Research On Comparative Human Resource Management. (2 ed.). Cheltenham: Edward Elgar and Gunz, H. & Mayrhofer, W. 2018. Rethinking Career Studies. Facilitating Conversation Across Boundaries with the Social Chronology Framework. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, and more than 130 book chapters and 80 peer reviewed articles.

Wolfgang Mayrhofer is a member of the editorial board of several international journals and a research fellow at the Simon Fraser University Centre for Global Workforce Strategy (Vancouver, Canada), and a member of the academic advisory board of AHRMIO, the Association of Human Resource Management in International Organisations. His teaching assignments both at the graduate and executive level and his role as visiting scholar have led him to many universities around the globe. He regularly consults with organisations in the for-profit and non-profit world and does management trainings, among others on sailboats (www.championSHIPS.at)
