This conference aims to gain insights into the needs, policies and practices when dealing with linguistic diversity in professional settings. It will bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss:

• how different organizations deal with linguistic diversity

• which problems and challenges arise related to linguistic diversity in professional settings

• how linguistic diversity can enrich professional settings

• which practices respond particularly well to linguistic diversity in professional settings

• how teaching languages for professional purposes can address communication within linguistic diversity

We would like to make linguistic diversity visible throughout the conference. The presentations will be given in a different language than the presentation slides (one of both being English). The languages will be announced in the program shortly before the beginning of the event.

HANDS UP exhibition is part of the conference Linguistic Diversity in Professional Settings at WU Vienna on May 2^nd and May 3^rd. Time slots will be offered between 2 pm and 6 pm on Thursday and between 9 am and 4 pm on Friday. Although the communication during the tour is non-verbal, phonetic language will play a role in certain situations. Thereofore, we recommend English-speaking visitors to book the time slots at 2 pm on Thursday and Friday. If you speak and/or understand German, you will be able to participate in all parts of the exhibition.

HANDS UP is hosted by the Department of Business Communication at WU Vienna and kindly supported by the WU Rectorat and the WU Competence Center for Sustainability Transformation and Responsibility (STaR). Thanks to our sponsors we are able to offer participation free of charge. As each tour will be limited to a maximum of 15 participants registration is mandatory.
