Vienna Economics Graduate Center - VEGCRSS

In September 2023 the heads of the Doctoral and PhD Programs of the Economics Departments of WU, CEU, and UNI Wien decided to enhance cooperation between the Economics doctoral schools in Vienna and the Vienna Economics Graduate Center was established.

The aim of this cooperation is

  • coordinating PhD-level courses, opening these to all PhD students

  • allowing faculty from other institutions to be co-advisors of PhD students

  • organizing joint PhD conferences, PhD seminars, research seminars

The Vienna Economics Graduate Center (VEGC) is the alliance of the three Economics Ph.D. programs run by Central European University (CEU), Wirtschaftsuniversität (WU), and the University of Vienna (UW).

To participate in VEGC, you must be a faculty member or an enrolled Ph.D. student at one of these institutions.

It is not possible to apply directly to VEGC for graduate studies; you must instead send your application to one of the partner programs. These programs have different structures and provide different conditions, so we encourage you to gather more information before making application decisions.
