Tamás Molnár has recently published his new monograph, ‘Interactions Between EU Law and International Law’ with Edward Elgar. Co-authored with Ramses A. Wessel, the book takes a fresh look at the fascinating questions that are raised by the multi-layered interconnections between EU and international law. Wearing the lenses of both international and EU law throughout the chapters, and juxtaposing (these) perspectives, the book considers the EU and its legal order from an international community viewpoint and assesses the reception and role of EU law in international law.

These two perspectives lead to a different assessment of issues related to the idiosyncrasies of the EU and its legal order, including the EU’s claim for autonomy. The book is thus a testimony of how dialogue between the usually separate disciplines of EU and international law can enrich the understanding of both.
