Bringing together literature from both forensic psychology and linguistics, the book applies corpus-assisted methods to the study of deception. In particular, it explores how “cues to deception” (that is, words which have been found to point towards deception taking place) operate in their linguistic context. It also takes a methodological angle, arguing for new ways to analyse deceptive data in a context-sensitive manner.

The book is aimed at researchers and postgraduates in the fields of corpus linguistics, psychology, discourse analysis, and forensic linguistics.
