Elsevier and the University of Stanford have created a publicly available database of top-cited researchers worldwide that measures researchers’ career-long impact and single-year impact for the year 2023. To be included, researchers must either be among the top 100,000 scientists worldwide based on their composite citation score or fall within the top 2% percentile of their respective sub-field.

Kurt Hornik and Sylvia Frühwirth-Schnatter are listed in the "Full-career" and "Single-year" rankings. In addition, Bettina Grün attained a spot in the "single-year" ranking.
