Guest Researcher Corinna Schein at the Institute for Social Policy

07/06/2024

Corinna Schein will be a guest researcher at the Institute for Social Policy for three weeks between 17 June and 5 July 2024. She is a postdoctoral researcher in the research project ‘Welfare state reform “from below”: Representation of Weak Interests by Social Work as Democratisation of Social Policy?", which is based at the University of Duisburg-Essen and the TH Cologne and is led by Simone Leiber and Sigrid Leitner (https://demsoz.web.th-koeln.de/). Mrs. Schein's sub-project deals with the question of how the interests of people affected by poverty can be successfully placed on the political agenda. Her focus here is on the role of welfare organisations, which, as collective actors in social work, advocate on behalf of their target groups. During her stay, Corinna Schein will look at Austrian social work organisations and gain initial insights into their role in representing the interests of people affected by poverty and thus collect comparative material for her German data.
