The "Corona crisis" has posed immense challenges for many social enterprises, as well as nonprofit organizations. While there is much talk in the public discourse about the consequences of the "lockdown" for our economy, the team of the Social Entrepreneurship Center focuses on how non-profit organizations and social enterprises are dealing with the crisis and what can be learned for the future. Therefore, we take a closer look at the factors that contribute to the flexibility and crisis security of Austrian NPOs and social enterprises. To mark the occasion, the Inside Impact team focused the following episodes on the topic of organisational resilience. Episode 15 is in English! Enjoy listening.

Episode 15: Why should organizations care about their resilience? (in English)

The Corona crisis has impacted all of us in our daily routines and habits on a global scale at an incredible pace. With the protection measures taken to control the virus' spreading, economic problems did not take long. And especially for social businesses and nonprofit organizations, the past months were marked by hardship and a lot of uncertainty. That's why we discuss the relevance of organizational resilience in times of Corona crisis with Mia Raynard, assistant professor at the Insitute for Change Management and Management Development at WU Vienna.

Episode 16: The role of social entrepreneurship during the crisis (in German)
We discuss with Walburga Fröhlich how social entrepreneurs master the crisis and what role they play in overcoming the crisis. Walburga Fröhlich is founder of a social business, atempo GmbH and board member of the Social Entrepreneurship Network Austria.

Episode 17: How can resilience turn the crisis into an opportunity (in German)
Plasticpreneur is an Austrian social business that is fully committed to the fight against plastic waste. In this episode, Raphaela Egger reports on how Plasticpreneur works and how the organization deals with Covid-19. What opportunities have opened up for the organization and how can a social entrepreneur use the crisis and turn it into an opportunity?

Episode 18: The role of public funding programmes during the crisis (in German)

The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) supports organizations and people in implementing effective ideas. Philipp Aiginger-Evangelisti and Matthias Weichhart talk about the role of public funding in order to make social enterprises more resilient and to support them in their work.

Tip: The FFG funding program Impact Innovation encourages SMEs (e.g. start-ups in founding, associations and non-profit organizations) from all industries to find or test their ideas using innovation methods and pays half of the costs. Up to € 75,000 are available, regardless of the topic or industry. The funding application for Impact Innovation can be submitted at an early stage, namely before a solution has been selected. There is no deadline for submission. For submitters who lack part of the funding, the FFG supports with know-how and tools - in the new pilot line Social Crowdfunding.

Episode 19: How the generation café Vollpension adapted to the crisis (in German)

The generation café Vollpension (transl: "full board") is a social enterprise that has become an integral part of the Austrian social business scene. Due to the corona measures taken by the Austrian government, Vollpension was affected several times and had to react quickly to the measures. In our current episode, founder Hannah Lux reports how "full board" has made it through the last few months and how it quickly became "half board".
