Student Information for the Economics Major

The Department of Economics offers courses in all three study sections of the Bachelor's degree program in Economics and Social Sciences.

Below you will find an overview of the courses to be completed as part of the Economics major as well as a recommendation of the course of study by the Department of Economics.

Introductory and Orientation Phase (STEOP)

Fundamentals of Economics is offered in the introductory and orientation phase. The aim of this course is to learn the basics of economics, how to deal with formal concepts and theoretically sound argumentation.

We recommend attending the “flagged” courses especially for economists.

Main Study Program - Economics and Socioeconomics Major

The courses offered by the department in the second stage of studies consist of the contribution to the joint program for Economics and Socioeconomics (in the 2nd year) and the specific program for the Economics major (in the 3rd year). The courses from Economics in the 2nd and 3rd year are offered without overlap as far as possible.

In the Economics specialization, you will deepen your knowledge of the fundamentals of economics, learn about applied methods of economics and the field of finance. Areas of specialization amounting to 24 ECTS allow you to focus on specific topics. In addition, the major provides for free electives amounting to 6 ECTS credits and the writing of a Bachelor's thesis.
