Abstract

The lecture aims to follow the most significant trends in contemporary digital media – from the influence of emerging technologies, through the professional competence profile of the reporters and journalist combining several professions together, and the impact on the media business– how the traditional business models are adapting, and which are the most effective new ones. The lecture is based on the newest theory views, media and audience usage data, and author’s own research, which will put the topic in the context of Bulgarian media environment.

Dr Ivan Valchanov is a Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Media and Public Communications (University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria). He is currently teaching Communication Management, Digital Journalistic Competencies, and Journalistic Editing. His research interests include digital media, communication management, media and journalism education, media and digital literacy.
