Paper notices as an expression of workplace culture

Paper notices as an expression of workplace culture

Paper notices are a widespread phenomenon in the workplace, even in times of home office and digital work platforms. When one enters a physical working environment, they will find paper notices on desktops, in the office kitchen, meeting rooms, workshops, storage, etc. Their ubiquity and wide range of functions make them exciting research objects for various disciplines, including management and organizational studies, anthropology and applied linguistics.

Our project analyses paper notices as a socio-material practice in the workplace. We aim to identify the messages (i.e., functions and themes) they communicate to learn more about how social relationships in the workplace are managed and how identity is negotiated. In doing so, paper notices are an essential resource to investigate workplace culture.
